What the harbour looks like from above
Bigger than you expect, and much more industrial. Pearl Harbor is a working naval base wrapped around several lochs, with dry docks, grey ships and a long causeway. The tourist geography — the visitor centre, the boat, the queue — disappears entirely.
The Arizona itself is visible as a darker shape under the surface with the white memorial building lying across it at right angles. From a thousand feet you can see the whole ship, which you cannot do from the memorial standing on top of it.
That is the honest case for seeing it from the air: scale and outline. What the flight cannot give you is the thing most people come for, which is standing still above the wreck with the oil still surfacing. They are different visits.
